Clearances

There are 3 clearances required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education in order to work or volunteer at a school district in any capacity including, but not limited to, teachers, paraprofessionals,  substitute teachers, office staff, maintenance, cafeteria staff, security, bus drivers, club sponsors and coaches.   The clearances are as follows:

 

  1. Act 34 – Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History https://epatch.state.pa.us/RecordCheckHome.jsp This clearance can be obtained on-line with a credit card, using the PATCH system.  Cost of application - $10.00.  You may also apply for this clearance by mail.  The necessary form may be accessed with the ChildLine and Abuse Registry Form at the site below.

 

  1. Act 151- ChildLine and Abuse Registry   http://www.dpw.state.pa.us/ServicesPrograms/ChildWelfare/003671038.htm  This clearance is only obtainable by mail using the form available on this website.  The form must be submitted to the Department of Public Welfare with a money order for $10.00.

 

3.   Act 114 – FBI Federal Criminal History Records

An FBI clearance verifies that your fingerprints have been submitted and cleared through the Federal government as having no criminal background.  To obtain this clearance, an individual will have to register on the website at http://www.pa.cogentid.com using a credit card, or by phone at 1-888-439-2486.  A money order or cashiers check in the amount of $40.00 can be presented on site; however, no data entry occurs on site.  A listing of fingerprint locations can be found on this website.

 

The Clairton City School District requires that every employee/volunteer be drug tested.  Please come to the Administration Building, 2nd floor, for a form and directions to the drug testing facility.  The cost of this test will be paid by the district.  All of the above forms and information can be obtained at the Administration Building, 2nd floor.
